A mail-order bluing business, the Bluine Manufacturing Co., owned by George Conant, moved from West Acton to West Concord in 1893. Sheets of paper were saturated with a bluing solution that contained sugar as an adhesive agent. When dried the sheets were cut into squares, they were sold 12 squares to the 10 cent package.
